Down at the Copa! Copacabana! The lyrics of this famous song ring in your ears every time you hear someone speak the name of this beautiful place. This beach is so famous and popular that it deserves a page all of its own. Other beautiful beaches include Ipanema and Barra.
The beach sits in a beautifully rich setting with beautiful rising hills and a concrete jungle. Copacabana is the best place to feel the carioca spirit. There are several restaurants along the beachfront. The beach also offers a great walk, as there are beautiful Burle Max designed sidewalks. The summertime is the busiest time for Copacabana and the beach fills up quickly. Copacabana is considered the Manhattan of beaches. The beach features white sandy beaches and beautiful water. The beach became popular in the 1920's when the Copacabana Resort opened and the resort was considered the most beautiful beach and resort in the world. The beach stretches for over three miles and there are various beach bars and restaurants.
The best time to visit this beach is during November to March, the weather and water are both warm and comfortable at this time of the year
Barra is located a little out of the way, but this popular area deserves a visit. There is Miami flair at this beach and visitors come to enjoy discotechques, shopping, restaurants, and bars. There is also an upper class shopping center at Barrashopping. The best reason to visit this beach it the beach. The water is clean and pure. The beach features surfing, windsurfing, body boarding and a smaller crowd. There are great family activities near the beach with special activities for children. Rollerblading, tennis, skating, cycling and soccer can all be found at Barra. Several restaurant booths are located on the beach as well.
Ipanema was made famous by Bossa Nova's "Girl from Ipanema." The song is true as these tanned beauties can be found throughout the beach. Ipanema beach may be old and famous, but the beach is still quite beautiful and by far the best in Rio de Janeiro.
Aeropador beach is famous for surfing and surfing schools. Ipanemo is known as one of the richest places in Rio and the little Paris of Brazil. Here you will find amazing art galleries, avante-garde theaters and bookshops.
Sao Conrado Beach lies between Leblon and Barra da Tijuca is a relaxing and warm spot in Rio . This beach is known as being one of the most famous hand gliding and paragliding landing spots. The waves here are also popular with the surfers and swell up to six feet high. The beach also features the Tijuca National Park and the Atlantic Rainforest. These are beautiful natural areas that you must visit.
Prainha Beach is a surfer's paradise. This beach is way off the beaten path and it is a good idea to take a tour bus or city bus to this beach. You will also pass Copacabana on your way. Here you will find the locals are happy and friendly. If you have your own board you may want to bring it, as the closest rental shop is a few miles away. The waves here are hollow and fast. Experienced and trained surfers visit this beach all of the time. If you are passionate about surfing or you would just like to hang out, there are cottages for rent on the beach as well as camping.
You may not want to go anywhere else but these beautiful beaches will make you want to linger in the sun and take in the rays.
